Always happy to post articles about this corner of the World, I today read about Tara’s ”punting” experience in Croatia.
On a recent wine trip to the beautiful region of Istria in Croatia, fellow wine blogger Donald Edwards, showed us the art of Wine Punting: drinking wine out of the punt of an empty wine bottle.
Always up for anything, Joe Wadsack joined in and so did winemaker of Roxanich wines, Mladen Rozanic – not sure he’d ever drunk his own wine quite like this before!

This weekend I’m going to: VINISTRA 2012
Looking forward to this year VINISTRA. Michelin star chef Christopher Naylor will be cooking and there are so many wonderful winemakers to quenche everyone thirst for Istrian wines.
During the weekend of May 11-13, Vinistra will feature the traditional wine exhibition taking place at the Zatika sports center in Porec (the main floor), the gourmet events with chefs from Istria and abroad presenting their cuisine (the upper floor of the sports center). There are, of course, panel discussions for wine professionals and tasting events for wine professionals, wine bloggers and media. Additional events called Habanos moments are traditionally organized for the cigar aficionados on different locations in and around Porec.

Nice report on a visit to Trapan, Istrian winemaker, by Douglas Blyde. Nice one Douglas!
GIORGIO CLAI, Istrian winemaker.
Giorgio Clai, one of my favourite Malvasia Istriana winemaker, has been recently nominated by German gourmet & lifestyle magazine Der Feinschmeker, as one of the newcomers of the wine scene for 2012. Clai joined the club of the most succesfull European winemakers during the Wine Awards 2012 that took place at Schloss Bensberg in Germany on March 3.
A visit to his vineyard is a must if you’ll travel to Istria, Croatia.
